We’ve got final confirmation on all four guest speakers for the Community Chat this Saturday, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them involved!

They are:

Rev. Heber Brown
Rev. Larry Brumfield
Dominick Doleman
Rev. David Gaines

In addition to our four speakers, we are delighted to announce that Rebecca Yenawine will be acting as the discussion’s moderator. And as always, delicious refreshments will be provided.

So come and be part of a great discussion amongst all kinds of different points of view in Baltimore on same-sex marriage, happening at the Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum this Saturday, March 9th, from 4-6pm. This will be a safe and open space, and people of all different backgrounds and beliefs are encouraged to attend and participate.

Preach! Community Chat

Loosely patterned after Baltimore’s popular Stoop Storytelling series, the Community Chat will bring together a diverse panel of individuals to tell their personal stories, talking about why they believe what they do about particular issues. These shared histories will then serve as the jumping-off point for a moderated open discussion amongst panelists and attendees alike, which will include church groups, college students, and LGBT organizations.

Thank you all for coming out to our Artist Talk with Jeffrey Kent!! We had a great turn-out, and are getting more and more press on the show practically every day! Stay tuned for our Community Chat on March 9th, from 4-6pm.

Being able to hear an artist talk about their work can open up whole new realms of understanding.

EDS’s Gabrielle Buzgo giving a brief introduction for Jeffrey Kent.

What a great turn out, and what a great audience!

During his talk, Jeffrey touched on everything from the events that inspired this body of work, to his painting techniques, to his own experience in EDS.

The refreshments were almost as well enjoyed as Jeffrey’s talk!

A tired but elated group of young curators closed the doors of the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum at 10 o’clock this Valentines evening, glowing with pride at the amazing response to the opening reception of Preach! New Works by Jeffrey Kent.

We’d all like to extend a huge thank you to all of you who came out to see the show tonight, as well of course to our amazingly talented artist, Jeffrey Kent, whose vision, passion, and creativity has been the driving force for all of us and a constant source of inspiration.

For those who weren’t able to make it to our opening tonight, never fear! Next Thursday, February 21, we’ll be hosting an artist’s talk evening, where Kent will be discussing in depth the body of work that comprises Preach! Come to the alternative Valentine’s Day…

Today is the day! It’s finally come! And we can’t think of anything we’d love more than for you to come and celebrate a special alternative Valentine’s Day with Jeffrey Kent, a graduate of MICA’s Hoffberger School of Painting and a fellow EDS alumni. There will be drinks and refreshments, including cupcakes from Charm City Cupcakes! Look for us EDS students to get a tour of the artworks, and be sure to “Preach What You Love” with the awesome programming activities our education team has prepared for you.
